<P>Here in the States, <a href="/news/articles/1677260/madonna-lady-gaga-born-this-way.jhtml">Madonna sat down with ABC News</a> and had some <i>interesting</i> comments about Lady Gaga. In another <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ukTFzM6Wfdg" target="_blank">interview</a>, on Friday's (January 13) <a href="http://www.bbcamerica.com/the-graham-norton-show/" target="_blank">"The Graham Norton Show,"</a> the singer seemed to take the high road and likened her early days of hustling in New York City to <a href="/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Gaga</a>'s beginnings. "When I first saw her, I saw her performing at a very small club in Manhattan a couple of years ago, maybe it was like three years ago," she said. "I was actually really impressed by her. I thought she was really cool and she did remind me of me back in the day. I liked her rawness and there was something fresh about there and ballsy, and when she spoke to the audience, she sounded like she had a similar sense of humor to me, quite ironic, and I liked her. So I do think she is very talented." That was really the end of the subject during their chat, other than when Madonna teased the British talk-show host about naming his dog after her. However, when he said his other dog was named Bailey, she quipped, "Not Gaga?" Some of that sentiment was mirrored in Madge's ABC interview, the rest of which airs on Friday's night's <i>20/20</i>. While she did call Gaga's "Born This Way" song "reductive" when asked about comparisons to her own "Express Yourself," she went on to say that she sees a lot of her own work in Gaga's. "I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well-done," she said, later adding that she thinks Gaga is "a very talented artist" and that she's making a "statement about taking something that was in the zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it." <P>You kind of can't go wrong when the soundtrack you've put together for one of the most eagerly anticipated literary adaptations in years kicks off <a href="/music/artist/yeah_yeah_yeahs/artist.jhtml">Yeah Yeah Yeahs</a> singer Karen O's take on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>'s "Immigrant Song." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:693384" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Fans heard the throbbing industrial take on the rock classic cooked up by former Nine Inch Nails mastermind and O when a trailer for the David Fincher-directed "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" leaked back in May. And on Thursday, Oscar-winning industrial-rocker-turned-film composer Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross unveiled the full track list for their "Tattoo" score album. The follow-up to their award-winning "The Social Network" score was a labor of love, according to a <a href="http://nin.com/?id=102677" target="_blank">post</a> Reznor put up on the NIN site on Thursday announcing the disc. "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' " he wrote about the American version of the tale of pierced and punished hacker <a href="/news/articles/1655879/rooney-mara-dragon-tattoo.jhtml">Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara)</a> and her muckraking journalist compatriot <a href="/news/articles/1667542/daniel-craig-rooney-mara-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo.jhtml">Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig)</a>. "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus." So what could <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a>'s nursery for Blue look like? To get an idea, MTV News caught up with Andrea Edmunds, the president of PoshTots, a designer of choice for celebrity parents looking to create a dream nursery. Edmunds has worked with Heidi Klum, Kimora Lee Simmons, Gwyneth Paltrow and a host of other stars to help get their homes ready for a baby. On Thursday, Edmunds stopped by MTV News and put together a dream nursery for Blue Ivy, which included a star favorite item, the <a href="http://www.poshtots.com/baby-furniture/baby-furniture/bassinets-cradles/dynasty-cradle/18/207/1315/1550/poshproductdetail.aspx" target="_blank">Dynasty iron cradle</a>. "A cradle is a must for moms who want babies close by. We have a lot of celebrity moms who have purchased this actual cradle." Edmunds said of the cradle, which retails for $2,000. "It's sophisticated, it's elegant and — look at it — I think it says Beyoncé." Edmunds also brought along some of her most popular baby gifts, which include angora booties (a popular gift among celebrities like George Clooney and Paltrow). "A silk charmeuse blanket retails for $450, and it's a favorite gift. Gwyneth Paltrow has given this as baby gifts and it's a favorite among celebrities." Now, Edmunds would not divulge if Beyoncé is a client, but rumors have been swirling that she and Jay-Z registered for her <a href="http://www.poshtots.com/interior-design-guide/nursery-necessities/all-baby-cribs/fantasy-carriage-crib/3378/3381/1313/12867/poshproductdetail.aspx" target="_blank">Fantasy Coach Carriage Crib</a>, which retails for $20,000. "I will tell you that we do have a coach carriage, and we have sold the coach carriage." Edmunds said. Britney Spears' Engagement Ring: How Does It Stack Up?
From Kim and Kris' monster-size rock to Beyoncé and Jay-Z's 18-carat mega-sparkler, we dish on the diamonds.

<P>After <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> confirmed her <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">engagement to longtime beau Jason Trawick</a> last Friday, fans wanted to know everything about the ring, a four-carat diamond designed by Neil Lane. Trawick — Brit's former agent — popped the question after working with famed jeweler Lane on the design, according to <a href="http://stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2011/12/18/jason-trawick-britney-spears-engagement-ring" target="_blank">People.com</a>. The site also reported that Trawick wanted a crown-like band. In addition to the mega-sparkler at the center of the tiara-style setting, the hubby-to-be also had 90 small round diamonds added around the band. Spears debuted the ring during a trip to Las Vegas over the weekend to celebrate her fiancé's birthday. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!" Lane told the website. "Jason didn't want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone." Minya Oh, the author of "Bling Bling: Hip Hop's Crown Jewels," told MTV News she was pleasantly surprised by how understated the rock is. "The ring is so damn classy! It's [four] carats, which by Hollywood standards these days is practically microscopic," Oh said. "The setting is a tiny crown but both that and the thin diamond-studded band are done so delicately, from afar the focus is still on that bright white center stone. Nothing about the ring overwhelms her hand, and nothing screams, 'Please believe my relationship is real!' " She added, "This is the kind of ring a pop icon has when they're ready for something that means more than just the ring." This is hardly Spears' first engagement ring, however. When her <a href="/news/articles/1676192/britney-spears-engaged-k-fed-comments.jhtml">ex Kevin Federline</a> popped the question back in 2004, the former back-up dancer gave the pop princess a five-carat diamond <a href="http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20150527,00.html" target="_blank">ring</a>. All this talk about rocks got us thinking about some other celebrity proposals, so we decided to spotlight a few memorable engagement rings. <big><b>Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries</b></big><br> When it comes to size, Spears' ring from Trawick is small compared to <a href="/news/articles/1664525/kim-kardashian-kris-humphries-engagement.jhtml">Kim Kardashian's monster-size rock</a>. When Kris Humphries popped the question earlier this year, he gave her a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond. Of course, the size of the ring didn't guarantee lasting marital bliss: the couple <a href="/news/articles/1673465/kim-kardashian-kris-humphries-divorce-statement.jhtml">split after 72 days</a> of marriage. <big><b> Beyoncé & Jay-Z</b></big><br> Like Humpdash, Jay-Z, who is expecting his first <a href="/news/articles/1669849/beyonce-pregnant-vmas.jhtml">child with wife Beyoncé</a>, also went the Lorraine Schwartz route. He gave his pop-star lady love an 18-carat ring back in 2007. The couple kept their wedding ceremony under wraps. <big><b>Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler</b></big><br> While it has been a bumpy engagement for former "Hills" star <a href="/news/articles/1675147/kristin-cavallari-jay-cutler-engaged-again.jhtml">Kristin Cavallari and her football player</a> fiancé Jay Cutler, the couple announced they were engaged <i>again</i> last month. Cutler opted to use the same 5.2-carat ring he'd given the MTV reality star back in April when he first decided to put a ring on it. <big><b> Hilary Duff & Mike Comrie </b></big><br> Before Mike Comrie asked <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/02/24/hilary-duffs-giant-engagement-ring-details-emerge">mama-to-be Hilary Duff</a> to be his blushing bride last year, he reportedly spent $1 million for the sparkler, said to be about 12 to 13 carats. <big><b>Katy Perry & Russell Brand</b></big><br> <a href="/news/articles/1629130/katy-perry-engaged-to-russell-brand-rep-confirms.jhtml">Russell Brand also gifted Katy Perry</a> with a ring of about 12 to 13 carats when he proposed last year to <a href="/news/articles/1676073/best-artists-of-2011-katy-perry.jhtml">MTV's 2011 Artist of the Year</a>. <P><P><a href="/news/articles/1677610/etta-james-dead.jhtml">Etta James died</a> on Friday (January 20) at the age of 73 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. The singer is being remembered by <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a>, who has quite the history with her. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:727109.id:1677649" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen," Beyoncé wrote on her <a href="http://www.beyonceonline.com/us/news/beyoncé-pays-tribute-eternally-great-etta-james" target="_blank">blog</a>. "Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. Her version of "At Last" from the film's soundtrack would later win a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Beyoncé's version of James' iconic ballad once-again made headlines when she performed the track at President Obama's inaugural ball in 2009. The performance was initially met with some criticism from the always-outspoken James, but she later came around. Beyoncé is the latest in a long line of <a href="/news/articles/1677631/etta-james-dead-reactions.jhtml">celebrities paying tribute to James</a>. "Showing respect, appreciation and love for all the wonderful music and joy #ettajames brought to the world...#ettajamesforever," Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am wrote on Twitter. Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams recalled how James' music influenced her. "#EttaJames, I will be forever grateful for your voice and your soul. Rest in peace." <P><P>With <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> in full-on album recording mode, his longtime manager, Scooter Braun, has heard just what the teen star is up to and wants everyone to know that <i>Believe</i> is a game-changer for the singer. "Wow!! In the studio with @justinbieber and #Believe is going to be ridiculous!!!" he <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/scooterbraun" target="_blank">tweeted</a> about the 17-year-old's 2012 release. Braun's message came the same day that Bieber announced that he's officially working on the project. "Start recording full time for #BELIEVE today. let the fun begin! #newMusic," he <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber" target="_blank">tweeted</a> on Tuesday, hours later adding, "#studio." <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:714678/cp~id%3D1672718%26vid%3D714678%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A714678%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> But it seems that he'll take a break to hit up the Consumer Electronics Show, which is currently under way in Las Vegas. While Bieber has said that he wants his next release to recall <a href="/news/articles/1672847/justin-bieber-my-world-new-album-justin-timberlake.jhtml">Justin Timberlake's <i>Future Sex/Love Sounds</i></a> sonically, in a recent interview with <i>V</i> magazine, he noted that what he'll be singing is a bit more PG than the topics Timberlake covered on that album. "I'm not going to try to conform to what people want me to be or go out there and start partying, have people see me with alcohol. I want to do it at my own pace," <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/01/10/justin-bieber-talks-sex-drugs-and-rock-and-roll/">Bieber says</a> in the issue. "I don't want to start singing about things like sex, drugs and swearing. I'm into love, and maybe I'll get more into making love when I'm older. But I want to be someone who is respected by everybody." Bieber may not want to get too graphic on this album, but vocal producer <a href="/news/articles/1675015/justin-bieber-new-album.jhtml">Kuk Harrell did note</a> to MTV News that he will be maturing on it in his own way. "The only conversation we've had about Justin's album that we're about to do is it's really important that it's the proper transition because we've seen him [with] 'Baby,' now we're watching him grow up," said Harrell, who also worked with the singer on <i>Under the Mistletoe.</i> "And we can't just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition. Becoming a dad changes things. After a lot of rumors and speculation, Bow Wow admitted last year on his website that he had fathered his first child, a baby girl named Shai.
At first, the 24-year-old rapper hid the truth because he was "nervous" about how his fans, who have been following him since he first debuted at 13 years old, would look at him. On Wednesday's "RapFix Live," Bow (real name: Shad Gregory Moss) had no reservations about opening up about fatherhood.
"For me, it's just the quality time I get. I'm Bow Wow all the time. To the world, I'm Bow Wow. When I leave here and I go to L.A. and I go to my daughter's house and I sit with her, I feel like Shad. I'm not Bow; I'm daddy," he told MTV News correspondent Sway. "It's, like, the illest feeling in the world. I feel like I'm away from everything."
The feeling has even spilled over into the studio. On his upcoming album, Underrated, Bow said he will include "Boy or Girl," a previously released mixtape track on which he rhymes about being a dad. "The record just hit home, because it was just honest. Right then, I was like, 'Yo, I have to make honest records. I gotta be more personal, I gotta be more honest,' " Bow said. "That's what music is about."
On January 8, Jay-Z joined the ranks of famous rapper dads when he and wife Beyoncé welcomed Blue Ivy Carter into the world. It seems like, more than ever, MCs are opening up publicly about their children. Jay released "Glory," a single that featured baby Blue crying at the end; T.I. stars in a new reality show with his wife and their six children; and Fabolous has been getting more personal in his music since the birth of his son, Johan.

<P>On November 1, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> will take his fans <a href="/news/articles/1672827/justin-bieber-under-the-mistletoe.jhtml"><i>Under the Mistletoe</i></a> on his holiday album. But he's giving them an early treat by releasing his <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> duet, "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," on Monday (October 24). </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1672718" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The song dropped on Ryan Seacrest's <a href="http://ryanseacrest.com/2011/10/24/usher-premieres-duet-with-justin-bieber-chestnuts-over-an-open-fire-audio/" target="_blank">radio show</a>. Its vibe is reminiscent of '90s R&B tracks, and it sounds a lot like it could have been recorded by Boyz II Men, who also appear on the album. The Christmas classic is all about the little joys of the holiday season, including the family get-togethers, the food and Santa bringing presents to children. The song, one of the classics that appears on the album, hits iTunes on Monday. Bieber and Usher previously appeared together on "Somebody to Love" off <i>My World 2.0.</i> "Justin and I did the classic record 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.' This record is going to be remembered for years to come," Usher told Seacrest on Monday morning. "It's a record that has always been one of my favorites, and I'm happy that I was able to share it with Justin, and for us to put it out. The album is full of surprises. Justin's <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> is going to be incredible!" In the lead-up to the release, Bieber <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/128163827832467456" target="_blank">released</a> some behind-the-scenes footage of his mentor and him in the studio working on the song. He also shared that he had another surprise in store for his fans. Just one week after dropping the video for "Mistletoe," he <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/128479978106003456" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "Up early to shoot another video for #UNDERTHEMISTLETOE #Nov1st but something else is out this morning...."
