Roberto Luongo Stops 32 Shots, Blanks Blackhawks: Video

The Chicago Blackhawks and the United Center -- Chelsea Dagger and all -- have been a recurring nightmare for Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks the past couple of seasons. Because of that, Friday's 3-0 shutout win, which included 32 saves by Luongo, had to be a great feeling for a Vancouver team that's now won four in a row.

The 'Hawks have eliminated the Canucks from the postseason in each of the past two years, and Luongo has had his share of struggles and bizarre losses at the hands of the defending Stanley Cup champions. Earlier this season Luongo was on the losing end of what had to be a frustrating shootout that included two fluke bounces that he appeared to stop at first glance. In the second meeting of the season, Luongo was pulled after giving up four goals in less than two periods of what turned out to be a 7-1 loss on home ice.

Following that game, Canucks coach Alain Vigneault criticized Chicago for pouring it on, saying, "We basically embarrassed ourselves in front of our fans, and they did everything they could to rub it in our face. It's 6-0 and they throw their number one power-play unit when it's 5-on-3. They have every right to do that. They did it. They were pushing it, and they did."
