Whatever the case, it turned Game 4 of the American League Championship Series into nine innings of complete weirdness. The Texas Rangers buried the New York Yankees, 10-3, to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, which is ridiculously weird for those who can't comprehend how a team with a $64 million payroll can thoroughly dominate a club that spent $206 million in a bid to defend its championship.
So now all that remains is for the Yankees to win three straight, without first baseman Mark Teixeira but with a leaky bullpen and a manager who'd be lucky to escape the Bronx without his tires being slashed. The Yankees aren't accustomed to being on the wrong side of elimination games but that's what they have, beginning here Wednesday afternoon with Game 5, and if they survive that, it's back to Arlington, Texas, and if the Yankees are really, really lucky, they'll get to face Cliff Lee one more time.
Weird.
